Sunset was close to start, we were in our way to San José from Puerto Limon, Costa Rica and we stopped to eat at El Primo, the cousin in English, a nice typical restaurant at Herediana, Siquirres.
While waiting the food to arrive to our table I noticed the setting of elements in the area where the owners of the restaurant cook tamales and how the light hitting this rural, typical scenario and took out my camera.
I used for this picture a Canon EOS Rebel XT camera with a Canon zoom lens EF 28-90, shutter speed at 1/80, aperture value of f/5, and ISO of 100.
This is a dramatic capture of the light’s behavior and an approach to the Maya influence in the Costarican culture expressed in the tamales that are shown in the picture.
Tamales are done with cornmeal, pork, spices, rice and much more, all these grabed and tied with plantain leaves and boiled for at least 45 minutes to one hour, traditional is to cook them in wood fire.
