Rainforest Chocolate Tour is a one day tour visiting a small scale cocoa plantation in middle of a rain forest where you will see the basics of cocoa production in the way local handcrafters do it; from planting to harvesting, drying, fermenting, roasting, grinding and finally compacting pure raw first grade quality “criollo” variety of chocolate, unsweetened and ready to be used in the best cooking recipes. |
| |
Besides the cocoa plantation and processing, you will walk through natural history trails, botanical gardens showing some medicinal plants, and visit two ethnographic museums; one of pre-Columbian indigenous use of chocolate and another of Afro Caribbean use of chocolate. |
